Throwback to Wiesnfest

First of all I wanna apologize that I haven't make a post for a while. It has been so much to do and going on lately that I haven't have enough time to write, but here I'm again!

Throwback to Friday evening 9.10. when we were in Wiesnfest in Vienna. I believe everyone knows that Oktoberfest is the big thing here and of course especially in German(some of exchangers actually went and explored the original Oktoberfest in Munich and I'm a bit jealous of that). I was thinking that it would have been too expensive to go there, but luckily I had opportunity to explore Oktoberfest atmosphere in Vienna instead.

The atmosphere was amazing and we had so much fun! Actually I think it was the best night in here this far. There were lots of booths where you could buy beer, sausages, souvenirs or sweets. I have never drunk that much beer in my life that I drank that night. :-D I don't usually like beer at all, but of course I had to try it because it is mostly all what Oktoberfest are about. But I have to say that one liter of beer was quite big challenge for me, but I made it! ;)

Me and my beautiful friends <3

Almost everyone were wearing their Dirndl or Lederhosen, so of course we had to wear them too. One funny thing was that when I and Erika came back from ladies room some men asked can they take a picture with us for souvenir. :-D Maybe we did look a bit like real Austrian girls, at least they though so.

I really love my dirndl!

I didn't have camera with me, so here is only some pictures taken by phone.

Trip to Slovakia: Bratislava

We were in Bratislava from Wednesday to Friday last week with my Finnish friends. We stayed two nights at the hostel called Brickyard, which located near by the train station and only ten minutes walk from the historical city center. Our room at the hostel was really clean and cosy and the price per one night was very cheap, so there was really good value for money. The weather was on our side, it was very warm and sunny, so we really had the perfect timing to explore Bratislava, I think.

We enjoyed the weather, the atmosphere of the historical city center and, of course, the cheap wine and food. And of course we did some "little" shopping as well... We managed to find two really nice cafés, where we ate breakfast, and one restaurant that had very tasty burgers. If you are going to visit in Bratislava you should definitely try the café called Urban bistro in the historical city center. We really loved that place! Delicious food, great coffee and very nice staff. :)

The highlight of our trip was definitely the KHL (HC Slovan vs. SKA St. Petersburg) ice hockey match on Thursday evening. I have never been before at the ice hockey match with that insane atmosphere! There were 10 000 people watching the game, screaming and cheering on their teams. IT WAS AWESOME! You can find pictures and a little video taken at the game from my Instagram account, if you haven't check it already. ;)

I really liked our time in Bratislava and I think, that I have to go back, at least, to explore some KHL match again. ;)

First time in Vienna

Team Finland made trip to Vienna on last Tuesday. We didn't have know idea where we were there, but somehow we managed to find nice places and even to the city center without any guide! In this time we just walked around and had some Wiener menu for lunch. Have to go to the shops some other time. ;)

It's very nice that Vienna isn't that far away from Wiener Neustadt, only about half an hour by train. It isn't that expensive either, with Jugend Vorteilkarte (or something like that) it is only 4,50€ per one way, so I think we are going to visit there many times in this semester. :)

Here is some pictures I took on Tuesday, enjoy the sunny Vienna!

I think I'm in love this place!

Tour of Austria: Hallstatt

Our last destination on our tour of Austria was Hallstatt where we drove on Sunday morning after having a breakfast at our hostel in Salzburg. From some strange reason, our distance from Salzburg to Hallstatt was very quiet. :D I think almost everyone of us was a bit tired because of the last night (just a wild guessing). I slept almost the whole distance and I think that I wasn't the only one who was doing that.

We arrived to Hallstatt around twelve o'clock and we had two hours time to explore the rainy village. There wasn't much to do in Hallstatt besides admiring the breathtaking atmosphere: the lake, the mountains, cute small houses and boutiques. I bet that Hallstatt is one of the most beautiful places that I have visited. May the pictures speak for itself.

We ate some lunch before we went back to the bus. There wasn't many places open because it was Sunday, but we found some little restaurant, which was okay. Not everyone of us was happy with the food what they get, but my choice (some fish) was really good and tasty. ;)

After seeing Hallstatt we started our way back to the dorms and Wiener Neustadt. I'm happy that I take part of this tour, still that it was raining all the time and there wasn't so good timetable for the tour. We were quite confused during the tour in some places, because we didn't know when it would have been wise time to eat something and what to do next. But we made it and I think we have fun time during the tour. ;)

I can't wait to see and explore Austria even more, it is just so beautiful here!

Tour of Austria: Salzburg

Time for Salzburg!

On last Saturday after seeing Innsbruck we continued our tour to Salzburg. We arrived about two o'clock to our next hostel, which was way better than the first one in Innsbruck. When we had checked in and get our staff to our rooms, went we get some lunch before a city walk.

In the city walk we had a guide with us, who told us some facts about the history of Salzburg. I think everyone knows that Salzburg is Mozart's birthplace and that Sound of Music comes from Salzburg as well. I didn't buy any Mozartkugels in this time, but we also decided to come back some day, so I think I still have time for that. ;)

After the city walk we went back to the hostel and get ourselves ready for the evening. After shower and dressed up we watched Harry Potter from TV. It was so weird (and terrible) to watch it in German, I don't get it why do they have to ruin the original versions like that. :D Later all of our group went to the city center at first to some Irish pub and after that to the nightclubs. When we were back at the hostel it was something like two or three o'clock. Some of us ate pizza before getting into bed.

If Innsbruck was beautiful, so did Salzburg. The atmosphere and the history of Salzburg are so interesting and exciting, that I recommend to travel there if you ever got the chance! :)

The next post will be about our last destination in our tour of Austria, amazing Hallstatt.

Tour of Austria: Innsbruck

Last weekend we made tour of Austria, which included Innsbruck, Salzburg and Hallstatt. We started our tour early on Friday morning and drove by bus (many, many hours) through beautiful landscapes of Austria.

Our first destination was Innsbruck, but of course we took some breaks before we arrived there. We took lunch break in a small town (I can't remember the name) with a beautiful view from the restaurant. Most of our table tasted the famous Wiener Schnitzel, but I took Cordon Bleu instead. It was okay, but I have to say that I expected a bit more from it.

We arrived to Innsbruck around seven o'clock (if I remember correctly) to Jugendherberge where we spend our first night. Almost everyone of us went to the grocery story to get some drinks and food, before we went some Italian restaurant near by the Jugendherberge. After eating some of us played cards and drinking games at the hostel. Only six of us went to the bars on Friday night in Innsbruck, all the others were too tired to go I think. :D

Night in Innsbruck was really fun! First we went to some Rock bar, where we actually spend most time of the night. Some Austrian guy took us later to some other bar/club, which was really nice and the dj played good music, but he wanted to show some other place as well, so we didn't stay there so long. The third place was awful actually. It was some underground club, where was too much people inside and almost everyone of them was smoking (it is still shocking that you can smoke inside here!), so there was no fresh air. After that we went back to the hostel and get some sleep.

On Saturday we woke up early and ate some breakfast at the hostel before we went to the city center. In the city center we had sightseeing (by bus because of the rain) and had some time to walk and take some photos too. Innsbruck was really beautiful! It was a harm that rained so much, so we didn't stay longer. It would have been nice to see Innsbruck in a sunny day, so maybe there have to visit an other time!

The next post will be about Salzburg, so stay tuned! ;)
